Filmemacher*innen, Aktivist*innen und Wissenschaftler*innen müssen vermehrt gegen Zensur und gezielte Des- und Fehlinformation kämpfen. In diesem Gespräch überlegen wir gemeinsam mit Expert*innen, wie man unabhängigen Journalismus und Meinungsfreiheit schützen kann. Das Buch Beyond Moltovs liefert dabei Einblicke in kreative Prozesse und subversive Taktiken, die Zensur umgehen und der Wahrheit verpflichtet sind. Im Anschluss zeigen wir den Film Of Caravan and the Dogs über die letzten Tage der Novaya Gazetta und ihren – mit dem Friedensnobelpreis ausgezeichnetem Chefredakteur Dmitrij Muratov.

Börries Nehe

Dr Börries Nehe is a sociologist specialising in Latin America, with a focus on violence and authoritarianism. Speaker 'Global Science Dialogue', Rosa Luxemburg Foundation.

Askold Kurov

Born in Uzbekistan in 1974, now based in Turkey. In 2010 took a degree in documentary filmmaking at the Marina Razbezhkina Film School in Moscow. In 2012 he was one of the directors of the award-winning documentary «Winter, Go Away!»& His next films «Leninland», «Children 404» and «The Trial: The State of Russia vs Oleg Sentsov» also won critical acclaim and screened at numerous festivals. His work focuses on human rights issues and social conflicts in contemporary Russia.

Debra Aroko

Debra is a Kenyan filmmaker and producer with a passion for storytelling that captures the nuanced realities of communities facing the impacts of the global climate crisis, the challenges they face, but also the resilience and hope they sustain.Debra works as a producer for the Solutions Storytelling Project, supported by the Skoll Foundation. Debra is a firm believer in the power of storytelling and its ability to bring hope and catalyze positive impact.

Milan Vukelić

Milan Vukelić, is a Belgrade-based journalist, born in 1982. He spent the last 19 years working at different newsrooms, most of which were daily newspapers of news portals. His first job was at Blic, a newspaper led by the legendary Serbian editor Veselin Vesa Simonovic. Today, he is an executive editor at Nova.rs, a major Serbian news portal. He is an obsessive consumer of all kinds of media content, and an even more obsessive consumer of music.

Leni Velasco

Leni Velasco is a Filipino artist-activist and human rights advocate. She co-founded DAKILA and serves as its Secretary General and the Executive Director of its Active Vista Center. She's worked on advocacy communications, social movement building, and creative campaigning, and has been recognized for her contributions to human rights.
