We are thrilled to celebrate with you the opening of Dokumentale.
This year's Dokumentale kicks off with an empowerment highlight: Clara Stella Hüneke's documentary SISTERQUEENS will open the 1st Documentary Film Festival on the 10th of October at the Colosseum Film Theatre in Berlin. The graduation film of the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy documents the hip-hop project of the same name in Berlin-Wedding, which has been supporting girls between the ages of 8 and 18 for eight years. Under the guidance of mentors such as rapper Ebow, the SISTERQUEENS learn the craft of rap and grow together as a community. For the film, which caused a sensation at its premiere at the Munich Film Festival, Hüneke accompanied her protagonists for four years.

The three friends Jamila, Rachel, and Faseeha are part of Sisterqueens, a Berlin-based rap collective. They challenge social norms, rap about feminism, discrimination, and self-determination, and help each other to forge their own paths.
