By challenging social norms and striving for change, they risk their lives and are sometimes even forced to flee their country. This six-part documentary series takes us on a journey into the world of these courageous women.

Amani Al-Ali, Idlib's first female cartoonist, depicts life in her town, a jihadist stronghold opposing Assad since 2011. Armed with her pen, she fights Islamist rule and patriarchy, but how long can she keep going amid the town's ruins?
WE ARE FIRE highlights a young artist's rebellion against Mexico's dangerous reality for women. Mar Mar Maremoto uses her illustrations to inspire hope and solidarity. She talks to women fighting for change through self-defense and protests.
