Join us for a special screening of Alreadymade that will fittingly take place at the Berlinische Galerie, a former glass warehouse that was specially converted for the gallery. As a hub where art intersects with art, we're thrilled to present a live performance by Valerie Renay, a Berlin based, French-Carribean multidiciplinary artist afterward as part of the programm.
Alreadymade is a film telling an alternative story of the artist and provocateur Marcel Duchamps famous artwork Fountain. The film questions the artists claim to the artwork and instead explores the possibility that the lesser-known, flamboyant Dada artist Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven could be responsible for turning this much-discussed porcelain pisspot into art. Film-maker Visser tells the absurd story of this iconic work, with no certainty about whether the original still exists. A search for the truth and a reflection on what makes art art. After the program, we invite you to enjoy the beauty of the location with a great cocktail and music by DJ Tafkah.
