Surfing Einstein

Meritxell Campos Olivé / Germany, Italy / 2024 / 75 min

In 1915, Albert Einstein predicted gravitational waves. In 2016, a group of physicists successfully confirmed this element of Einstein’s theory of relativity. This documentary explores the interpersonal and emotional aspects of the research project. The physicists tell their story through dance and their unique body language. In their everyday lives at the Physics Institute of Sapienza University in Rome and the Virgo Research Center near Pisa, they experience moments of overwhelming collective joy as well as deep frustration.
